Every athletic program eventually reaches a point where it has to decide what comes next.
For Auburn University at Montgomery women’s basketball, that moment is now.
The 2025–26 season was difficult for the Warhawks, who finished 3–25 overall and 3–19 in Gulf South Conference play.
But a difficult season doesn’t mean the story is over.
College basketball is built around change. Players graduate, new players arrive and programs constantly have opportunities to reinvent themselves.
Throughout the season, AUM showed flashes of the talent necessary to compete. Individual performances demonstrated that the Warhawks have players capable of producing big moments, even during a challenging campaign.
The next step is turning those flashes into consistency.
That means developing players, establishing an identity and creating a culture where the expectation is to compete every night.
For AUM women’s basketball, rebuilding won’t happen overnight.
But it doesn’t have to.
The most important thing is establishing a direction.
AUM already has the university, the facilities and the conference competition necessary to build a successful program. Now comes the work of putting everything together.
The Warhawks don’t need to become a championship contender tomorrow.
They need to become better tomorrow than they were today.
That’s how programs are built.
That’s how cultures change.
And that’s how the next chapter of AUM women’s basketball begins.
